Copenhagen Economics - the first specialised economics consultancy in Denmark - was founded on 17 January 2000 by two former government employees; Jesper Jensen and Claus Kastberg Nielsen who saw the potential for commercial application of their economic insight. Initially,
Copenhagen Economics specialised in the economics of trade and climate policies, but the company quickly expanded into a fully fledged economics consultancy supporting informed decisions for private and public decision makers all over Europe.
Since then, Copenhagen Economics
...has been supporting informed decisions in private companies under scrutiny by competition authorities or private companies in complex and changing regulatory environments, e.g. Carlsberg, Lauritz Knudsen, and DONG Energy in Denmark; NCC and UPC in Sweden; and TINE and Stattkraft in Norway.
...has been supporting informed decisions in state and regional bodies or private interest groups developing growth policies for local cities and regions, e.g. the European Commission, the Irish Development Board, the Danish and German Ministries of Transport, the Swedish and Danish Chambers of Commerce, and the Danish Agency for Enterprise and Housing.
...has been supporting informed decisions in public authorities or private interest groups wanting to gauge the economic impact of various types of trade and other public policies, e.g. the European Commission and Parliament, the Swiss Ministry of Finance, the UK Department of Trade and Industry, the Danish Bar Association, the Norwegian Ministry of Administration, and the Danish Ministry of Business and Industry.
Today, Copenhagen Economics is a well-established international economics consultancy employing more than 25 members of staff of various nationalities, including several Ph. D.s. The company regularly co-operates with leading academics all over the world, giving our clients a facilitated access to the academic world of rigorous economic thinking.
Currently, the company is located in central Copenhagen in modern, spacious and tastefully decorated offices conveniently situated in Sankt Annæ Plads, just off Kongens Nytorv.
